Duck Donuts in Virginia Beach
May 05, 2014
We are big fans of donuts in all of their incarnations, but there is nothing in the world like a Duck Donut. Cakey but fried, chewy on the outside and soft and melty on the inside, topped with a thick layer of frosting and covered in sprinkles, coconut, or peanuts. When they are hot and fresh out of the oven, they are something like heaven.
Duck Donuts have been a staple of our Outer Banks vacations for years now. It used to be you could only get them in (wait for it) Duck, NC, but in the past few months, locations have sprung up in the Hampton Roads area (there's one in Williamsburg and we hear there is another location planned for Richmond, too). What an absolute treat, to visit one of our favorite vacation spots without having to go too far from home.
For the record: James's favorite is chocolate iced with peanuts, Anouk's is strawberry iced with coconut, and mine is plain old peanut-butter frosted (with lemon iced and coconut topping a close second). Our family jury is still out on the maple frosted with bacon, but its worth a try, even if just for the novelty value.
Are you a fan of Duck Donuts? What's your fave combination to get?

ReplyDeleteLOVE those boots!
Thanks! A great thrift store score. Whenever we find a cute pair of rain boots, I buy them, even if they are too big! She'll grow into them sometime. :)
DeleteSo after I mentioned to my kids that the new location is open, they all told me that they'd had Duck Donuts on their makeup snow day at school last week! I was so jealous! I need to make some time to go over there.
